Why do Women ask "Do I look FAT in this?"

There are a number of reasons why women ask this question.  It might be puzzling and plain dumb to men but that fact is there is actually several reasons why.  The most important tip that I can give to men is never say, "YES YOU DO LOOK FAT!"

If they do chunky in the outfit try saying.. "How about you try on that blue shirt that I love so much with that skirt."

Reasons why women ask "Do I look FAT in this?"

  1. They honestly want to know if they look frumpy or fat in the outfit.  If so they want to change into something else that their husband/boyfriend/friends would be attracted to.

  2. They want to know that you think they are pretty.

  3. Their self confidence is low and they want you to boost it up.  For example ... "Do I look fat in this?"... "Of course not honey you look fabulous."

  4. They want to be reassured that they look as hot as they feel.  Sometimes women ask this to test their mate to make sure they give the right answer.  If they do look fat then lie, lie and lie some more.

  5. They have recently lost weight and want to be told they look skinny.

  6. They just want to mess with you.  Sometimes women test men just because they can.  They know men squirm at the thought of this question being asked and they want to see how they react.

  7. They got a new outfit and they want to know what you think in case they need to take it back.

  8. Women always want to look and feel their best.  Sometimes they really just need a "friend" to tell them what they want to hear cause they haven't invented a mirror that does that yet.

Women always have tricks up their sleeves.  We can't help it .. It just comes second nature to us to torment the men in our lives :)  We never usually ask our friends if we look fat in an outfit because they would probably tell us the truth.

do-i-look-fat in this

Men have been trained for years to always say no to this question and never pause before they automatically answer NO.  It is important to have a relationship where you tell the truth but sometimes it is critical that they tell a little white lie.

I hope I helped for next time you get asked this dreaded question. :)

  1. Alright... I'm going to give you the guy's point of view on this one. Lets start with a scenario... I started dating a woman and she was 130lbs and looked smokin' hot in her black dress. A year down the road she starts on the new chips and chocolate bar diet and balloons to 180lbs. It's now assumable that I still love this woman; I still want to be with her but that I find her terribly unattractive. Sure a lot of peoples priories and mindsets change as their loved ones get older and heavier but.. we're talking 50lbs growth in only a year, not a lifetime. Not only is that unattractive but a serious long term health concern. A healthy guy like myself doesn't want to be with an unhealthy person, or get sucked into there bad habits.

Back to the scenario, if she squeezes herself into that black dress and comes to me to ask "Do I look like a whale in this?" I'm going to give her the honest truth... "Not as good as you once did". Sure it sounds cruel and like I'm an asshole but I have good reasons. I know she wanted me to say "Of course not, you look good in anything" or some bull shit. In my scenario, I want to be with her but I don't want to have her continue down the road to blimpness, she needs to make a change.. right now. Trying to make subtle hints about her weight and getting her to come with me to the gym have failed in the past as she has become lazy, lost confidence and the motivation to make a change. She needs an intervention and it has to be her man, telling her how it is. It could be disastrous for the relationship... but in the long run it is better to correct the issue then to allow it to interfere with your happiness, as well as your sex life. Since my woman has gained a lot of weight I am not as attracted, and our sex life has dwindled to almost nothing. If this continues I will go resentful and likely be driven to breaking up with her, masturbating too often or be tempted by another woman. This is why, for both our sakes that she needs the cold hard slap in the face about her weight.

After the admission, if she decides that your an ass and doesn't want to be with you, so be it. Maybe 10 years from now she'll call you in on the Maury show to show you how thin she is, and then you can make your move to put her on tap again. The bottom line is that she needs to know, and if your hints arn't getting through then it is time to be a man and tell her how it is. You know damn well if you put on an ugly clothing combination she will tell you. If she see's a hot guy on TV she's going to say, "Maybe you should get a 6-pack like that". If she is going to speak up, it's time that you told her to look in the mirror and get real.

"Do I look fat in this" = The perfect opportunity to fix the fatty growth that has plagued your relationship)

  2. Oh my gosh... Ian.. Your the best! The is the ultimate comment! Here is your gold fat star :)

  3. "It's not the dress that makes you look fat it's the fat that makes you look fat...."

  4. I actually agree with you Ian and Steve. Harsh, but hey, unless it's caused by somekind of condition, both women and men need to keep putting the effort into looking good for their girl/boyfriends...I'm not sure why anyone wouldn't want to.

  5. Oh, wait, that Al Bundy quote - not totally agreeing on that one. Certain badly made clothes create curves that aren't there :)
But mostly, yeah it's the fat that makes people look fat. OK enough talk about fat people from me.
