How To Tell Your Friend...

How to tell your friend that their girlfriend/boyfriend keeps trying to flirt with you. Or even worse trying to make sexual advances towards you?

I have been in the same situation as you before, several times.

What do you do?  This situation always turns ugly.

In both my cases I warned my girlfriends that their boyfriends were greasy horny slime balls but they both chose the boys over me.  They thought I was lying or that I wasn't "understanding' their boyfriends and that they are just "nice to everyone".

I was trying to warn them. One ended up finding out the hard way and the other one married him and now has 3 children.

Why does this happen?

I believe it's because women or men want to believe their partner.

They want to believe that their partner would never cheat on them or hit on their friends.

But that is not always the case.

What should you do if this happens to you?  How do you tell your friend that their partner is sleazy.

Here are four options you might consider:

  1. Don't.  Just Don't
    • Sometimes you have to let your friend find out the hard way.  This is the option I wish I would have chosen.
  2. Tell your friend
    • It seems like this would be the best option because you love your friend right?  No.  Do not tell them because they will then turn the situation around to be somehow your fault. Trust me.
  3. Threaten the boyfriend/girlfriend
    • If they don't stop you will tell your friend and it will get ugly.  Sometimes threats work.  Sometimes threats get thrown back in your face.  This option is risky.
  4. Stop hanging out with your friend
    • If the situation makes you unconformable and you want to avoid any drama or confrontation, then stop calling your friend.  They will eventually get the message.
I hope these options helped you in some way.

If your friend is really your friend they will see the kind of person you are and realize that you are telling the truth.

Keep Them Warm This Winter - Downtown East Side

I have been wanting to put together some warm clothes/food for Vancouver's Downtown East Side (DTES) for awhile now.  The east side of Vancouver is known as Canada's poorest postal code.

Many think downtown is the way it is because of poverty, drugs, sex, and crime but it's also "home" to many of the mentally ill and those who are just down on their luck.

In 2012 40% of those on the Vancouver streets were mentally ill with no other place to go.

I organized a successful clothing drive a couple of years ago but I wanted to put together another one on a grander scale with hopefully your help.

I now have an Amazon wishlist where we can keep the homeless and less fortunate in Vancouver warm this winter.  I am going to cook some soups, sandwiches etc. to keep their bellies full too and try and help them out as much as possible.

There are many people that are a lot less fortunate than we are and its nice to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Thank you in advance for reading this post and I hope with your help we can make a huge difference in helping the DTES this winter.

Any questions please don't hesitate to contact me to lesliestar@lesliestar.ca.

Smarten Up or You're Out Baby

Is your boyfriend or girlfriend acting crazy and not treating you right?

The following questions you have to ask yourself honestly.

No one can decide if you are happy or not.  This is a life choice that you have to make.

Ask Yourself the following questions:

  1. Am I happy?
  2. Do I often feel upset or hurt by my partner?  If so, is it because you are too sensitive or are they legitimately not treating you the way you should be treated?
  3. Do I still love them?
  4. Am I their top priority?
  5. Would I consider cheating on them?
  6. Could I see myself marrying him/her?
  7. Do I want to have a child with him/her?
  8. Am I still attracted to my partner?
  9. Do I trust them?
  10. Do we have good communication?
What were your answers?

If they were mostly negative it's either time to re-evaluate yourself and figure out what you want for your future or try and work on your existing relationship.

If you think this is simply a bump in the road and it can most definitely be fixed then take some steps to guide your relationship in the right direction.  You can go to counselling, sign up to an activity that both of you enjoy doing together, go on a vacation, take a financial class together as most fights tend to surround money.

If both parties don't work towards the same goal your relationship will never get better no matter how much you try.

Don't ever let someone treat you badly.  You DO NOT deserve this no matter what.  It is never your fault.

If your in an abusive relationship and you need help please call the national helpline for domestic abuse at 1-800-7233.

New Launch of Leslie Star!

I am excited to announce the launch of my newly designed website, www.lesliestar.ca & www.lesliestar.com.
I have been around since 2008 when I first launched this site and have met such wonderful people from all over the world. This has given me the opportunity to express myself and create such wonderful memories.
I envisioned a place where you go could & have fun, meet new people and find out the juiciest gossip from all around the world.  I also wanted to make a place where you can get make-up/hair tips, relationship advice, talk sports, video games and just be yourself.

This blog is ME.   I asked my best friend from Iansblog.ca to construct a site for me.  Before we started this revamp, I envisioned a easier to navigate and more up-to-date site and I believe we did that.  He went above and beyond and I appreciate it to no end.  Ian and I (but mostly Ian) have worked together to create a new website rich in information to be used as a resource just for you.
My new site features an entire section where you can contact me, which makes it easier for me to meet you.  It's an opportunity to know me better; who I am as a person and not just someone you see on the computer.  I also have a menu where you can see my Youtube videos & an Amazon wishlist for various acts of kindness.  By browsing through my site you’ll get a pretty good idea of who I am and what I am trying to achieve.
If you experience any problems using the new website or if you have any questions, please contact me at lesliestar@lesliestar.ca.

Nail Polish - Everything You Need To Know

How to Take Care Of Your Nail Polish

I have been doing my own manicures since I was a little girl.

I am a huge collector of nail polishes, nail pens, lotions, nail stickers, rhinestones, files, buffers etc.  I have had over 100 nail polishes at once.

I love high quality polish.  Not only does it stay on longer than cheap polish but the color is more saturated, it goes on easier & it doesn't stain your nails IF you put on a base coat.

Don't get me wrong...  When I see a sale on polish, I will buy it.  I love buying discontinued colors too.

My Nail Stuff

Random & Quick Tips

I have always kept my nail polish in the fridge.  It makes the polish last longer and not clump.

I roll the polish in between my hands before I use it.  I shake the bottles as well if there isn't much left it in or the colors are separating.

In between color changes I let my nails breathe as your nails need oxygen.  I apply cuticle oil, put lotion on my hands, stay away from water as my nails get weaker & I put on at least a base coat or hardener.

I also always put on a base coat & a top coat.  I know it's a pain in the butt because it takes so long to dry in between coats but it's worth it.

It not only makes your nails stronger but your nails won't chip as fast, your nails won't stain and the color and overall polish goes on better.

Have you ever thought why are my nails turning yellow?  How Can I fix this?

ANSWERS

  • Color reaction is usually the reason your nails turn yellow. Darker-colored polishes stain nails due to a chemical reaction between the polish & the nails.

  • A chemical known as formaldehyde in the polish could be causing the problem. Formaldehyde reacts and makes your nails yellow.

  • It could be a sign of a nail infection.  This is unlikely and unless their are other symptoms of a nail infection or bad health.

QUICK FIXES

  • Try out the nail whitener from Witchcraft.  It works for toes as well.

  • Using whitening toothpaste on your nails and use a stiff nail brush to scrub them.

  • Soak your hands in lemon water for about 15 minutes or until you see results.

I have a video on YouTube on how to do a cheap manicure at home.  In case you haven't seen it yet, the link is below:

Boyfriend is obsessed with cars

1979 Camaro

My boyfriend is literally obsessed with his Camaro.

I am not sure if anyone loves cars as much as him.  Do you feel like this too?  Do a lot of your conversations revolve around cars?

When anyone mentions a Camaro my boyfriend's eyes twinkle.  He owns a 1979 Camaro.  I swear he loves the car more than me.

I even jokingly asked him before who he loves more.  He said that he loved the car and me equally. LOL

What can one do when this happens?

First off, don't take away something that your mate is genuinely interested in.  If you try and take it away they will forever hold a grudge against you, resent you, get pissed off & ruin your night.

Let them be themselves and as long as they come home to you at the end of the night, who cares.  Life is too short to be controlling.  He is also probably more likely to be with the car less and you more if your not nagging as much.

If it bothers you about him being around his car more than you, I recommend the following:
  1. Go with him and help work on the car.  Even sit with him and keep him company.  Bring some music, make some sandwiches and bring some drinks and not only will he appreciate it but he will also tell his friends how cool is girlfriend/boyfriend is.
  2. Find something to occupy your time while he is busy.   When people get into relationships they tend to forget who they really are and put the other's interests before theirs.  Take a pottery class, photography, go to the gym, take tennis lessons or read a book.  If you are both busy at the same time he will appreciate you more and realize that you are the best boyfriend/girlfriend.
  3. Encourage them by buying accessories for their car.  If you don't have a lot of money, by a key chain, a hat.. Anything that has their cars logo on it so show your support.

  4. Make a collage or scrap book that shows the progress of the rebuild.  It is something that they can look at or show off to their friends/family.

Most of all, be supportive.

That is what being in a relationship is all about.  Sometimes people get so pulled into their own lives that they forget how their actions affect their partner.  Just be patient as this time will pass..
UNLESS HE PLANS ON REBUILDING ANOTHER CAR!!!!
