Site Under Construction

Hi all you sexy people!  Sorry my site has been under construction for so long!

I am trying to fix all the bugs and make my site awesome for your viewing pleasure but it is taking longer than expected.

Bare with me because I love you all  :)

I Met Gene Simmons and Family!!

This weekend was exciting as I met Gene, Shannon, Sophie and Nick Simmons at the Boulevard Casino in Coquitlam, BC.

It was a "Show & Shine" car show with old beautiful cars and music and fun stuff to eat & buy.

There was a huge line up to get a picture with Gene and his family when I got there.  I probably would have had to wait for about 4 hours in the rain to get a quick picture with them and then be pushed out of the way for the next person.

So instead I waited in the crowd and eventually got to the front row to take some pics.  When I got to the front and was holding my chihuahua in my hands Sophie and Shannon saw my dog and said, "That looks exactly like our dog!" then Gene and Nick looked and smiled and laughed a bit.

[caption id="attachment_3496" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="My Chihuahua"][/caption]

That was so awesome for me as I seemed to get more attention that the people that stood in line forever.

Gene gave his usual "rock on" with his left hand for all the pics while Shannon and Sophie posed in their beautiful shoes and smiles.

Nick seemed to be having fun although he seemed a little awkward with his picture being taken.  It must be so weird to be a celebrity and everyone wants to take your picture 24/7 when you think you are just "normal".

Gene and Shannon seemed to be very happy in their "marriage" as I studied their body language a bit and there didn't seem to be any problems in their relationship.    Perhaps it is all for their reality show, "Gene Simmons Family Jewels".  They seemed to be in love which was very cute.

The only thing that was a downer at this event was that this security guy kept standing in the way of my camera (the one with the "Ping" hat on in my pics) and every time I went to take a picture he would stand in front of my perfect shot.  Also I only had my iPhone on me so the quality of pictures wasn't too great either.

The Simmons family was awesome and I hope to meet them again in the future..

The Defense won for Casey Anthony

Casey Found Not Guilty

Casey Anthony - Not Guilty

Today was a sad day for me and for most of the world.

Casey Anthony was aquitted of capital murder. She was found not guilty in the murder of her little girl, Caylee Marie Anthony.

The court room was silent as the the verdict was read over every popular tv channel in the world. There was silence except for Casey who faked some tears like she has during the whole trial.

It pays to have good lawyers doesn't it Casey?

It's sad that no justice has been served for that little girl. It was never confirmed as to who was her biological father or her killer is.

Everyone from "Zanny the nanny" (who doesn't exist) to George and Cindee Anthony was brought up in court as suspects to try and down play what Casey did and to try and distract the jury from the fact that Casey did kill that precious little girl.

I frankly don't care what the jury concluded and I know that Casey is guilty.

Going after Casey with a 1st degree pre-meditated charge might have been a strech considering that there was hardly any evidence. That is probably why the jury couldn't prove beyond a resonable doubt that Casey isn't a murderer.

I think that the José Baez, Casey's defense lawyer did a fantastic job of pointing the finger at anyone but her. They knew that there was hardly any strong evidence for the procecution to run with and did whatever was necessary to prove that casey was 100% innocent. From everything that was written in Casey's diary, from how her car smelled like decaying body to chloroform searches on this one website that she visited 84 times, you would think that it would be enough evidence to catch the "tot" mom in the ac but apparently not.

George and Cindy are probably broken now that Casey has gotten off and now they have not only lost their little grand child, Caylee but their own daughter for her web of lies that she has told for 3 years.

The defense made her father out to be a molesting monster as well as her brother so that she could play the victim?  Not to say that those things didn't happen but unless your guilty you don't usually bring it the victim card of abuse.

Where is justice for Caylee?  Do you believe that justice has been served?

Vancouver Kissing Riot

Appalling Or Beautiful?

Believe it or not that romantic picture is of a couple that was in the middle of the 2011 Stanley Cup riot in downtown Vancouver.

Riot in Vancouver

Were they getting off on kissing during the tear gas explosions? That's what it looks like at first but let me explain what really happened...

The Vancouver based photographer Rich Lam didn't realize that he had taken this picture and the uproar it would cause.

Not even Scott Jones and girlfriend Alexandra Thomas could not have predicted what would unfold after they attended the Vancouver v. Bruins Stanley Cup finals hockey game.

Soon after the Vancouver Canucks lost to the Boston Bruins 4-0, Scott and Alexandra were caught in the middle of the riots.

They were laying on the ground because Alexandra was injured from the police pushing her out of the way and Scott was trying to comfort her because she was crying and hurt.

Scott is originally from Australia and the news traveled fast to his father Bret Jones. Bret is not surprised that Scott was comforting his girlfriend with such passion and goes on to say that since Scott was a young boy he has always had "that gentle side for other people. I’m not surprised he would comfort Alex.”

Kissing Couple - Vancouver Riot

The couple cannot believe how many have viewed the picture and Alexandra says, “When I first saw it, I thought, ‘No way, that's not ... I can't believe that's us,’ ”.

This just proves that not everything is as it seems.

2011 Vancouver Riot

Canucks City Riot

Stanley Cup Riot: Vancouver 2011

I am completely ashamed to say I live among some individuals that made the 2011 Vancouver Stanley Cup finals look like trash.

I was with a group of friends watching the Canucks game last night on TV and we had such high hopes that Canucks would win.

We watched with sadness but still with the hope and faith that we would win next year. I went to the skytrain stadium to go home about 20 minutes after the game was over.

My friend and I stopped off at McDonald's and then we both went our separate ways. When I got home i watched in complete sadness for what had already occurred in the 30 minutes that it took me to arrive home. I was utterly in complete shock for what I was seeing on CBC and Global News. How could Vancouverites act like animals and trash cars, buildings, merchandise and other humans.

Other than the LA riots and oversees I have never seen anything worse and to think that it was all happening live on TV and there was nothing I could do about it. I took the above picture from my living room window about an hour after the game had finished.

I watched the news for so long that I had to go to bed. i think it was about 1:30 am by the time I turned off the tv.

All night I dreamt that I was in that riot trying to save myself and others. I woke up sick to my stomach and felt that need to talk to everyone about it today.

I went to work with the feeling of disappointment and it was mostly because of the riots and not because the Canucks lost. I want to make that clear because I am very proud of the Canucks as they played a wicked game. I can tell they poured their hearts and souls into the play offs. You win some you lose some and there's always 2012.

This is the first year I have ever been in to hockey. I really connected with each one of the players and I think most of the people not only in Vancouver but the world cheered for them.

I thought that the Bruins did a fantastic job and I was happy as well to see that their dreams had come true and they got to hold up that Stanley Cup and feel the applause from the audience *after they booed for a while which I thought was rude..

At lunch time I took a walk to see if there was anything I could do to help but there were already so many volunteers and the city almost looked like it never happened besides the broken windows with boards up on the department store windows.

Everyone including me wrote positive messages on what occurred the terrible night of June 15th 2011 hoping to give some inspiration to people that walked by.

I was so sad to think that people would purposely put the lives of others in their hands and blow up cars and stab people.

Hundreds of mostly young men and women polluted the minds of the rest of the world today. That is not what Vancouver stands for.

I walked up Granville Street and Seymour and was completely broken hearted in what I saw..
I took these pics below..

After I left work today I walked around the city a little more and realized that there was much more damage that I had initially realized.

It's all very sad and I feel for the people that lost their cars, possessions and hope.

How are we as Vancouver going to win back the trust of outside looking in?

What did the tourists think that were staying here?

What was the opinion of the world as they watched it unfold on the news programs?

I am so disappointed in the morons that wouldn't go home after the game was over. How is it fun to set cars on fire and jump on them and break windshields? Where are your parents?

I hope each of them get caught and reprimanded with jail time and not just a slap on the wrist.

If you would like to help please send your pictures to the VPD and watch the random YouTube videos and see if you can spot someone you may know.

Also check out the many Facebook pages that post pictures of the thieves.

Long live Vancouver Canucks! We will resolve in 2012!

Congratulations to the Boston Bruins.

Fashion Trends for Summer 2011

Summer Fashion Pieces for 2011

Here in Vancouver it seems as if summer is a beautiful place far far away.  It's the end of May and it's still raining but I have dreams of putting on that summer dress for the first time and not freezing my ass off.

These are my MUST HAVE Fashion Pieces

Wood jewelry - mix wood jewelry with colorful bangles.  Try to give off the earthy but stylish vibe.

Maxi Dresses -  I love long dresses that you can stay covered up in to protect you from the sun but still look sexy but stay comfortable.

Braided purses, belts or accessories with "leather".  Only wear one at a time though.

Huge sunglasses are always a must have to block out the rays.  The bigger the better this summer.

The hippie look is in more than ever so buy a whole bunch of long necklaces and wear them all at once.  Peace signs, hearts, feathers... The 70's is all coming back in.

Hair jewelry..Anything from feathers to bows.  The bigger and crazier the better it seems thanks to Lady Gaga :)

Platforms heels are hot.  Pair them with some hip hugging bell-bottoms and a floral print colorful shirt and your set to go shopping during the day or party at night.

Flowing tops.  Get light airy material blouses.  The off the shoulder loose fitting shirts are back in.

Side braids are hot as well.  Get some cheap clip on extensions and braid them with your hair to get the best effect.  Think Ke$ha but not as dirty looking...

Wear lots of silver bracelets and turquoise.

Bright nails and eye-shadow makes your outfit pop.

Hobo bags are back too but don't get ones that look brand new.  Worn and used and abused look is in.

Add me at www.facebook.com/leslie.star and tell me about your favorite summer fashion pieces.

Top 10 Ways To Ace An Interview

Top 10 Ways On How to Succeed At Any Job Interview

Have you gone through hoops and now it is time for that final interview that will get you the job or make you once again jobless? I will tell you what I have learned to ace an interview so you can get the job you want and not just a job that you have to take!

1. Take a shower and look your best! Make sure your cuticles are pushed back and if your a girl make sure you have clear nail polish. You want to look as clean and as put together as possible.

2. Go and buy a nice suit. I am not talking about a suit that all together cost about 50$. I am talking about a nice suit. Put it on your credit card if you have to. It doesn't have to be Hugo Boss or anything but get something that will last you a life time. Get something that looks rich and makes you look fierce. Get it tailored too for the little extra.

3. Get a hair cut so you look polished. The person that will be interviewing you will be examining your every move when you go into that boardroom or wherever it might be, so remember to always look pulled together.

4. Don't be too harsh on the make up. Look refreshed and don't pile on lipstick or blush or eye shadow. The point is to look well rested. Wear clear gloss and light eye shadow but you want to look pretty too but not trashy.. DO NOT WEAR PERFUME!!!!!

5. Buy new shoes or if you have black pumps or black or brown dress shoes make sure they are polished for the interview. It looks so bad when people focus all their energy into the suit but forget about wearing great shoes.

6. Bring a black or brown leather portfolio with you with a copy of your resume inside. It always looks professional to carry around a briefcase or portfolio. Turn off your phone when you are in the interview as well.

7. Don't wear too much jewelry. It's not a fashion show, it's an interview so don't get too unique with the way you present yourself. Still maintain who you are but don't go overboard and keep professional.

8. Go over some interview questions with your friends before you go. If you have to, look them up on the internet and rehearse them with your pet if there is no one else. Also go over your resume and make sure your know it front to back in case they quiz you on it.

9. Make sure you print out the map of where to go so your not late for the interview and you don't get lost. If you can... go the day before just to make sure you know exactly where you are going. Arrive at the interview 15 minutes early. Sometimes they can take you earlier. Some places actually expect you come that early. It's always good to be prepared for anything on the day of.

10. Always smile and look confident. If you don't know what they are talking about in the interview than fake it. You can always Google it later. But make sure you don't say yes to everything and because they might ask further questions about it and they you will look stupid. Just little white lies about things to make you look better is all. Also eye contact. When you are speaking they are looking for nervousness and eye contact. Try not to fidget if possible. Avoid words like um or ah when speaking. This is the day that you have been waiting for. Act like they need you in this job and they will hire you.

Questions for a First Date

Q & A On Dating Rules

Dating can be amazing or it can be hell from the second you meet the other.  Even the whole process of dating is exhausting.

Especially if you don't know the rules of a first date.

Do I kiss them or do I wait?  To pay or not to pay?  Bring a gift?  Call her/him when I get home?

All these questions will soon be answered.  Please note that my blog is also talking about same sex relationships too :)

  • Question:  Should I open the door for her? Pull out the chair for her too at the dinner table.

  • Answer: Of course you should.  Every girl wants you to.  She should open the car door for you when you let her in first.  Either she should press the auto unlock button or do the reach over and pull up the handle.

  • Question: Do I bring her/him a gift?

  • Answer: Honestly I would think that if you were a girl going out with the guy perhaps something funny like silly putty, a comic book or mini digital camera.  Something useful but a bit comical.  Try finding out a bit about them before you meet so you can judge what they would like.  If you're a guy going out with a lady/guy you should bring something.  Either flowers, speciality chocolates/candies, or something unique like tickets to a band you think she/he would like.  There is fierce competition out there so don't be cookie cutter about it. You are probably not the only guy she goes out on dates with and if your really liking her make sure she doesn't pick someone else by being original.

  • Question: Should I drive with music on in the car with her?

  • Answer:  If you want to get any action you should.  :P She wants to know that you are up to date with music, a fun person, and what type of music you like.  Do NOT play it too loud that you can't carry on with a conversation unless the date is already off to a bad start.

  • Question: What should I talk about?

  • Answer: Talk about light hearted things, like what do you like to do, where you're from, what you do for a living and what are your friends like etc.  DO NOT TALK ABOUT DEEP ISSUES like you are just getting over a death in the family, you were abused as a kid or that you're a depressed self-hating individual.  Leave that type of talk until you've been seeing each other for at least a month. :)

  • Question:  Do I walk him/her to the door.

  • Answer: If your a girl then no as you should not be picking him up on the first date.. no matter what!  If you want to meet him at the place, sure..  but never pick a guy up, as men like a chase and usually they love their car.  If they don't have a car it's a bad sign.. TRUST ME FROM MY EXPERIENCES.  Nothing good ever comes from a guy not having a form of transportation.  Not even if he has a skateboard or bike.  If your a guy then yes.. walk her to the door.  A woman wants to feel protected.  Now don't screw this good feeling up by being creepy with her at the door.  If your going in for a kiss make damn sure she isn't going to push you away as that could be very awkward.  Feel it out during the night and see if she was flirting with you.

  • Question:  Do I go up to their place and have "coffee"?

  • Answer: The only coffee you will be having is the one that you grab at Starbucks in the morning after your walk of shame.  Anyone that will sleep with you on the first date will never work out.  Even the sex eventually won't be exciting any more because you have explored all that there is to explore.  If you want a one night stand I guess it will work out perfectly but don't do it if you're actually looking for someone to get into a real relationship with.

  • Question: How long do I wait to call them after the date?

  • Answer: Wait three days.  This way you can make the other person anticipate your phone call.  Men like to show women they are too busy to call them back but they are actually as afraid of rejection and judgement as much as women.

  • Question: When I call them back, do I ask them out right away?

  • Answer: If you like them then yes!  If they say no then you know to get back out there and try again.

Spring Fashion Tips 2011

Top 10 Must Haves for Women

1. Emerald green is huge for Spring 2011.   Dress it up or down with pearls or jeans.  Wear your perfect black dress with a bright green clutch and some high heels.  If you don't have a black dress be sure to get one as you can wear them for any occasion.  If you pair it with different accessories  no one will remember that it's the same dress.

2. It's time to mix pretty with funky.  Think of Miley Cyrus's  style except more grown up.  Wear a floral print dress and accessories with a studded purse or a spiky bangle.

3. Giant rings....  The bigger the better.  However don't buy a ring that looks cheap otherwise your whole outfit will look that way.  Spend a couple dollars on it and it will last longer as well.

4. Wear riding boots.  Heal  or not theses boots are super hot heading into Spring.  You can keep them for next year too as they won't be going out of style.  If you buy quality you usually get what you pay for.

5. Wear dark maroon nail polish or black.    Even emerald green nail polish is hot right now.

6. Thick patterned tights are must haves to keep you warm for the rest of winter.  Make your tights be the center piece as they are the main focus of your outfit.  Try to tame the rest of you with low profile touches like nude or black heels or plain flats.

7. Wear your hair big this season.  Hot roller your hair with lots of hair spray.  Think modern beehive to Marilyn Monroe.

8. Buy a purse with some sort of chain detailing.  It is time for girl power this season so rock it out!  Be the strong woman you are and show it through your fashion pieces.

9. Think 50's, 60's and 70's.  Everything from bell-bottom jeans, sequin dresses and cat-eye sunglasses (not everyone can wear these things to so ask a friend).

10. Buy clothes with some texture or sheen.  This season wants you to step out of your comfort zone. Don't be afraid to be different.

Top 10 Must Have for Men

1. Think Motor cycle  fashion or a rugged James Dean.  Buy a faux leather jacket (that fit properly.. not '80s).

2. Look crisp but rugged.  Rock the one day - two day old stubble but wear pressed jeans and polished shoes.  Throw on your favorite vintage t and your jacket.

3. Silver rings.  Buy bulky silver jewelry.  If you have the money then spend.. spend... spend but if not then check out Le Chateau or Aldo Accessories.

4. Aviators.  The sun will be coming out soon so make sure you are prepared for it.  Silver frame is great this season but any metal will do.

5. The skinny jean is out.  Let your gut hang out as flared jeans are back.  Think 70's ... but not bell bottoms.

6. Crisp business shirts with a colorful tie.  Be sure to match it with your shirt though.  Perhaps ask the store if your not sure about it.  Or your partner as they will tell you the truth.

7. Buy a new wallet.  Something that looks brand new but aged.  Women do notice a mans wallet.  If a guy pulls out a beaten up old wallet they are usually tired and boring and not willing to try new things.

8. Go and get a professional shave by a barber.  Not only will you look hot but it will boost up your confidence as well.

9. Green is hot this season for the boys as well.  Not emerald green though.  Think more of an army washed out color.  Pair army green with brown, white or even a pop of orange. Think crisp and organic this season and always mix business with comfort.

10. Don't carry around a brief case anymore as it makes you look stiff (and not the good type).  Buy a carry bag from Fossil or Roots.  Buy a lap top bag as well so it's actually functional.

Most importantly this season, feel comfortable but make an effort to stand out as you deserve to be the center of attention.
