Keep Them Warm This Winter - Downtown East Side

I have been wanting to put together some warm clothes/food for Vancouver's Downtown East Side (DTES) for awhile now.  The east side of Vancouver is known as Canada's poorest postal code.

Many think downtown is the way it is because of poverty, drugs, sex, and crime but it's also "home" to many of the mentally ill and those who are just down on their luck.

In 2012 40% of those on the Vancouver streets were mentally ill with no other place to go.

I organized a successful clothing drive a couple of years ago but I wanted to put together another one on a grander scale with hopefully your help.

I now have an Amazon wishlist where we can keep the homeless and less fortunate in Vancouver warm this winter.  I am going to cook some soups, sandwiches etc. to keep their bellies full too and try and help them out as much as possible.

There are many people that are a lot less fortunate than we are and its nice to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Thank you in advance for reading this post and I hope with your help we can make a huge difference in helping the DTES this winter.

Any questions please don't hesitate to contact me to lesliestar@lesliestar.ca.
